To: firstname.lastname@example.org Last Friday I did a promotional DVD and poster for the South Auckland Health Foundation (Middlemore and Kidz First Hospitals). I am their ambassador, so I did it to help increase awareness for visitors and staff to gel their hands to prevent the spread of infections through out the hospital. Needless to say by the end of it I had the cleanest hands in the hospital! After that my mate and I went to the Otara Spinal Unit and visited a few of the patients and went into their gym. The work the staff do and the sheer determination of the patients is incredible. I also got to shoot a few hoops with one of the patients, who was very talented. This week I went to a golf day at Remuera Golf course for the Halberg Trust, who were also raising money for the Christchurch Earthquake victims. My golf has improved slightly and our team of four came second. I have also done some work with Sky and TVNZ for an earthquake appeal. It is times like this that it is great to be able to help those in need and I know everyone will be doing their bit to help. I have been busy at my gym at Northcote, Northside Boxing. The membership numbers have grown dramatically – the box fit classes are proving to be very popular. So if anyone wants to come and have a look or try a free class, visit www.northsideboxing.co.nz The gym caters for the whole family and all shapes and sizes in addition to the competitive boxing aspect of it. We have three fighters from the gym competing at a ‘Box Off’ this weekend to decide who is the #No 1 in New Zealand. This year is an important year for them as it is the qualifying year for the 2012 London Olympics. I have also spent a bit of time in South Auckland. In my role as SAHF ambassador I went to the opening of ‘The Trusty Full Back’ in Manurewa and have been helping Tea Ropati with his holiday programme Youth Pride. My daughter Georgia came and stayed last week which was great to see her and we had plenty of fun. There is no fight date confirmed as of yet but Kenny is still negotiation stages so as is with the game of boxing we wait so I will keep you posted.
